Experience Pete Horish Jr.’s impassioned account of the Prohibition Era explosion leaving 136 people homeless, and its impact on local families like his. On Aug. 18, 1928, his father, Peter Sr., was an eyewitness to the devastation when Bertholomes “Bert” Pellegrini accidentally touched off a 250-gallon batch of “White Mule” whiskey in a hidden room underneath the Falcon Pool and Dance Hall.
